It was announced today that the Chicago date of the Spring Fever Tour was switched from the Congress Theater to the Sear Centre in Hoffman Estates, IL (suburb of Chicago). Due to the increase in capacity, more tickets have been put on sale. Check out why we think the venue was switched, after the break.
According to Pierce The Veil’s Facebook post, they cite ticket demand for the venue upgrade, but knowing a little about what is going on with the Congress Theater right now would make you question that reason. Last week, a court ruling kept the Congress Theater from being shut down, but temporarily decreased the venue’s capacity to 3,000. That being the case, the venue was most likely switched due to the capacity change, otherwise the concert promoters, React and Riot Fest, wouldn’t have been able to honor all tickets previously sold.
I’m not saying that demand for this concert hasn’t been high. In fact, that’s all the kids in the area have been talking about. The original tickets for the Congress Theater show sold out in just a few hours. Also, both All Time Low and Pierce The Veil, held their last headline tours at the House of Blues, which is much below each band’s drawing capabilities in Chicago.
This is simply a theory, based on facts. All of that being said, congrats to All Time Low and Pierce The Veil for being able to co-headline a show at an arena (11,218 capacity). Make sure you buy your ticket to the show here.
