Uh Huh Baby Yeah – 2nd ROAD BLOG from “The Better Down South Tour”

The pop rock band, Uh Huh Baby Yeah, is currently on “The Better Down South Tour” with Lion In The Mane and Dreamcatcher (ex- The Dangerous Summer). While they’re on this tour, they will be doing an exclusive blog for our site. You can check out the second entry, with photos, after the break.

I’m writing this in the parking lot of an abandoned SONIC in Austin, TX.

After a week of shows, we’ve finally made it to SXSW music festival. This past week has been a rather emotional one for all of us. We’ve experienced some great shows and met some awesome people along the way. We’ve also had a few nights where our sets have been cut short by the venues due to rowdiness and/or loudness. Some places just can’t party.

Lion in the Mane and Dreamcatcher have fast become our new family. We look out for each other. We hang out together and share serious amounts of laughs and serious amounts of drinks. It’s nice to look up in the middle of playing to see Chelsea or Jon or both on the stage singing the chorus to “DEAD FRIENDS” with Kevin.

We’ve also been pushing each other every night to play the best that we possibly can. That is among the greatest parts about touring with another band. Each day, you have a friendly competition to almost “one-up” each other, and in the process, take your band and your sound and your stage presence to entirely new levels. I can definitely see the progress we have made from Day one to today.

As I stated earlier, we are in Austin, TX. We arrived early yesterday morning and spent many an hour before the show circling the block looking for a place to park. Finally, we just had to turn some flashers on, unload the gear as fast as we could, and then illegally park the van a mile away at a Firestone Tire Center. We ran (literally) into a man with a sweet mustache who was peddling a rickshaw bike. I gave him all the money in my pocket to get us to the venue as fast as possible, which he totally was able to pull off. We arrived, sweaty, right on the stage with four minutes to spare.

The showcase went fantastically, the crowd loved it, we loved it.

We also got a lot of complimentary drink tickets…
